Description

This is a medium wooden spatula carved from walnut, maple, and Cherry wood.

It is 12 inches long and 2 3/4 inches wide. I like this size for fried eggs and the like. It is a little more maneuverable than our larger spatulas, especially in a smaller pan. It will not be good for flipping large pancakes, but it will be fine for silver dollar-sized pancakes up to medium-sized. I use mine to scramble eggs and stir-fry all the time as well. One of our best-selling items. Finished with beeswax and mineral oil. .

The ones pictured are examples. You will receive one of the same designs with slightly different grain and color

This utensil is “pre-washed,” so to speak. During the final sanding, the grain is raised twice with hot water, and then the loose fiber ends are sanded off with a finer grit of sandpaper so that in use the spoon will not get rough. Then it is soaked in a bath of melted beeswax and mineral oil at 160 degrees Fahrenheit.

Care is easy, just wash in hot soapy water and towel dry. Apply some mineral oil or Walnut oil every couple of weeks. Better yet is a mixture of 3 parts mineral oil to one beeswax. Melt them together in a double boiler and pour into a small jar. We make and sell this mixture in our shop, so you don’t have to. A little goes a long way. You simply rub it on and then wipe off the excess. A 4 oz. tin lasts a long time. You can make your own by melting the beeswax and mineral oil together in a double boiler. Just add part wax by volume to 3 parts mineral oil or walnut oil by volume and put it in a small jar to cool. Will not go bad because beeswax is anti-bacterial. You can get the wax at a hobby store and the oil at a pharmacy. You can use it on your wooden bowls and cutting boards as well.
