Description

This is a handmade wooden spurtle carved from Cherry, Walnut, or Maple wood. **IMPORTANT: This item will be made to order with a processing time of 1-2 weeks. It most likely won’t arrive in time for Christmas.***

This is a great all-around tool for mixing, turning, scraping bowls, sauteing, and even flipping pancakes.

*This tool has a left and right-handed version so be sure to check the drop-down options menu and click on the handedness and wood you want. I have not linked photos for the left-handed version because it looks the same only it is the mirror image of the right-handed.

I like tools that do more than one thing.

It is 12 1/2 inches long and 2 inches wide. It has a gently curving blade rounded at the tip. The blade portion of this one is 7 inches long. Use it to turn crepes, scramble eggs, stir a sauce, or smack your husband in the forehead for asking “When’s it going to be ready?” one too many times.

The spurtles pictured are examples. The one you receive will vary a little in grain pattern and color.

Finished with beeswax and mineral oil.

This utensil is “pre-washed” so to speak. The grain has been raised with water during the finishing process to remove any loose fiber ends so the spoon will remain smooth after you use it. You can help this a lot by applying beeswax and mineral oil using a pad of 0000 steel wool every couple of weeks. The steel wool will remove any new loose fibers and keep the spoon as smooth as it is out of the box.

Care is easy, just wash in hot soapy water, towel dry, and apply some mineral oil or walnut oil every couple of weeks or you can buy some of our spoon oil finish which is Beeswax and mineral oil. A 4 oz. jar lasts for a long time and it will help to keep your spoon looking and feeling good for many years. You can make your own by melting 1 part beeswax into 3 parts mineral oil in a double boiler. It should be the consistency of Chap Stick when it cools.
